Gather your acrylic paints. We used various colors to create a rainbow effect, but feel free to choose any colors you like.
Paint a large sheet of bubble wrap. Ensure the painted area is as large as a full sheet of cardstock to cover the entire template.
Continue applying paint to the bubble wrap until it has a nice, even layer of paint.
Press the printed fish template into the painted bubble wrap, making sure to press evenly across all areas of the template. Then, lift the template from the bubble wrap.
Set the painted templates aside to dry completely.
After drying, you can cut the fish out along the outer black lines.
The final step is to attach the plastic googly eyes to the fish. Use a black Sharpie to draw a simple circle-shaped mouth and a fin on the fish.

This fish craft is fun and perfect for children of all ages. It’s easy and requires minimal materials and adult supervision, making it a great activity for rainy days or lazy afternoons. The best part? You probably already have most of the materials at home.
Step into the World of Sensory Play
Crafting with bubble wrap offers a wonderful sensory experience. The texture of the bubble wrap, combined with the vibrant colors of the paint, creates a tactile experience that children will love. It’s a great way to engage their senses while working on fine motor skills. Plus, it’s just plain fun to pop those bubbles!
Unleash Your Creativity
There’s no right or wrong way to create your bubble wrap fish. Encourage children to use their imagination and experiment with different colors and patterns. They can create a rainbow fish, a deep blue sea fish, or even a glittery fish. The possibilities are endless, and each fish will be as unique as the child who made it.
A Great Way to Learn and Play
While this craft is super fun, it’s also educational. It’s a great way to teach children about marine life and the importance of protecting our oceans. While working on the craft, you can discuss different kinds of fish and their habitats. It’s also an excellent opportunity to discuss colors, shapes, and patterns, enhancing their learning experience.
Tips for Success:
- Use a small amount of paint: A little bit goes a long way when using bubble wrap. Too much paint can muddy the colors, so use a small amount and let the colors pop!
- Adult supervision: As with any craft, adult supervision is important, especially when using scissors or other sharp tools.
- Let it dry: Let the paint dry completely before handling the fish. This will prevent smudging and keep the colors vibrant.
Crafting is a fantastic way to spend quality time with your kids, and this Bubble Wrap Fish Craft will surely be a hit. It’s easy, fun, and a great way to explore the wonders of the deep blue sea. So, gather your materials, roll up your sleeves, and get ready to make some fishy friends!
This craft is more than just an activity; it’s a great way to learn, play, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re looking for a fun weekend project or a creative way to teach your kids about marine life, this Bubble Wrap Fish Craft is perfect. Happy crafting!
