- Heavy white cardstock
- Acrylic paints – assorted colors
- Bubble wrap
- Googly eyes
- Black Sharpie

How to Make a Bubble Wrap Craft:
Begin by printing the sea horse template on heavy white cardstock.

Now, gather all your paints. We used lots of different colors, like a rainbow effect, but you can use whatever colors you like.

Paint a large sheet of bubble wrap. To make sure you get every area, you will need the bubble wrap and area painted at least as large as a full sheet of cardstock.

Continue painting in your choice of colors until the bubble wrap has a nice layer of paint.

Then, press the sea horse template printed on heavy white cardstock into the bubble wrap.
Press all areas of the template evenly into the bubble wrap.

Once pressed, gently lift and remove from the bubble wrap.
Set the painted bubble wrap aside to dry completely.
When the paint is completely dried, cut out the sea horse along the outer black lines that should still be visible.

Finally, add googly eyes to finish the face.

What paint is best for bubble wrap?
When selecting the best paint for bubble wrap art, factors such as drying time, texture, and ease of application must be considered. With so many options available, determining the ideal paint for your bubble wrap masterpiece can be overwhelming. So, we’ve provided a breakdown of the top paint choices for bubble wrap art projects.

- Acrylic paints are a popular choice for bubble wrap art due to their versatility and quick drying time. Available in a wide range of colors and finishes, acrylic paints offer excellent coverage and adhere well to the plastic surface of bubble wrap. Additionally, they are water-soluble, making cleanup a breeze. Acrylic paints are perfect for creating vibrant and long-lasting bubble wrap art.
- Tempera Paints are another great option for bubble wrap art, especially for younger artists and toddlers. These non-toxic, water-based paints are easy to work with and come in various colors. They dry quickly and provide a matte finish, making them ideal for bubble wrap activities that require more detail. However, tempera paints may not be as durable as acrylics, so it’s essential to handle your artwork carefully once it’s complete.
- Poster Paints are an affordable and readily available option for bubble wrap art. These water-based paints come in various colors and are easy to apply to the bubble wrap surface. Although they may not offer the same durability as acrylics, poster paints are perfect if you’re looking for a budget-friendly option for a fun and engaging art project.

The ideal paint for your bubble wrap art project largely depends on your desired outcome and your working surface. Acrylic and tempera paints are excellent choices for most projects, while poster paints offer a budget-friendly alternative.
