Our Kitchen Remodel: Before and After

Sharing is caring!

When we moved into our house, I knew the kitchen needed to be the first room that we remodeled.  The layout of the kitchen was excellent, but the wood color of the cabinets blended in with the color of the hardwood floors (Too Much Wood Tone), and I wanted a white kitchen with a blue island.

The wood kitchen cabinets were purchased at IKEA.  I love IKEA, but wanted an updated white kitchen.

As we planned the remodel, we wanted to save money, so we only changed three elements in the kitchen: the paint color of the cabinets, the doors, and the lighting above the island.

We ordered the doors, had them painted, and installed them.  We received estimates for cabinet updates at various price levels, and the difference in pricing was astounding.

Since we opted for a basic remodel, updating only the doors to the cabinets, the paint, and the lighting, the total cost was $6,000.  I have included both before-and-after photos.

Before photos of our Kitchen Remodel. We started with basic IKEA cabinets and added paint, new doors, and pulls, as well as new lighting above the island.

This $6,000 transformation made this 10-year-old kitchen feel updated and fresh. It’s amazing what simple changes, such as paint, can do for a room!

Cabinet Paint Colors:

Island Color – Benjamin Moore Wedgewood Gray – HC 147

Cabinets – Basic White

LIGHTING – ANTHROPOLOGIE

I would love to hear about your kitchen updates and remodels! How much did you invest to get your dream kitchen?
