Kitchen Tools and Equipment Needed:
To make your Jelly Bean Easter Cake, you’ll need some key baking tools, cake decorating supplies, and kitchen essentials. Let’s look at the must-haves for this project!
Baking Essentials:
- Three 8-inch round cake pans
- A sturdy cake board or plate for assembly
- A handheld or stand mixer for whipping the frosting
- Mixing bowls in various sizes
- Measuring cups and spoons
- A rubber spatula for smooth frosting application
- A cake Board
Decorating Tools:
To add the playful Jelly Bean touch, you’ll need some special cake decorating supplies:
Piping bags and a variety of piping tips
Offset spatula for smoothing frosting
Light Pink, Red, and Yellow Gel food coloring gels or liquids
How to Make a Jelly Beack Easter Cake:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and spray the three cake pans. Combine all cake ingredients and mix the ingredients according to package directions. Add ingredients to a standing mixer or large mixing bowl and beat until combined.
To give the cake a pink color, mix in a few drops of pink gel frosting until combined.

Divide the batter between the three pans and bake in the oven for 28-32 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool completely before moving onto the cake board.

Using a cake leveler, remove the dome from the cakes to make them even. Next cut a hole out from the center of the cake, removing the inside of the cake.

Using a standing mixer to make the frosting, beat together the butter, powdered sugar, vanilla, and heavy whipping cream until combined, smooth and stiff with peaks.
How to Assemble the Jelly Bean Cake:
Place one cake round on the cake board. Use a 3-inch round cookie cutter to cut out the center of the cake. Carefully lift and remove the centerpiece. Cut the removed center round in half, then gently position one of the halves back into the center of the cake to form a base.

Spread the white frosting over the bottom layer and along the inner walls of the cake’s center. Cut out the center of the second cake layer and carefully place it on top of the first layer. Add the frosting to the second layer, including the inner walls of its center.
Fill the cake’s center with 1 ½ to 2 cups of jelly beans.
Place the third cake layer on top of the other two layers. Scoop one cup of frosting into the piping bag. Frost the entire cake with the rest of the white frosting.

Separate the premade frosting evenly into three bowls. Add a few drops of a different color to each bowl and mix thoroughly. Microwave each bowl individually for 15 seconds to soften the frosting.

Transfer the softened frosting into disposable piping bags, one bag for each color.
Decorating the cake :
Cut the tip off the pink piping bag and pipe drips along the edge of the cake’s top. Next, snip the tip off the red piping bag and layer it over the pink drips. Repeat the process with the yellow piping bag.

Using the large piping bag, pipe white dollops around the top edge of the cake. Add jelly beans to the top of the cake, over the frosting, and arrange more jelly beans around the base of the cake.
