Use a cheap plastic tablecloth so you don’t worry if it gets messy. You can clean it off and store it afterwards to reuse it several times. Also, it will provide a waterproof barrier and will make for easier cleanup than newspaper.
Buy them an apron for art projects or use their old messy ‘throw away’ clothes. This apron can be used over and over again and you could keep it as a reminder of the fun crafty times your kids had while growing up.




Ingredients to make Homemade Paint
2 cups flour
2 cups salt
2 cups warm water Water-soluble food coloring


In a large bowl, mix together the flour and salt. Stir in the water and mix until completely blended.


If you prefer a smoother consistency, heat the water and and stir in the salt until dissolved. Then mix into flour.
The water may turn a shade of purple when the water is added but the color will change quickly to a neutral tone.


Divide the mix into smaller plastic containers and add different colors, as many as you would like to use.
