How to Make Your Reindeer Handprint Craft:
Follow these simple steps to create your own adorable handprint reindeer:
Step 1: Trace and Cut the Reindeer Head
Start by tracing your child’s hand on brown construction paper or cardstock paper. Carefully cut it out using scissors. This main handprint will form the reindeer’s head and serve as the base for your project.

Step 2: Make the Antlers
Trace two smaller handprints using a lighter brown color, and cut them out. These will become the antlers. Use glue to attach them behind the larger handprint so they stick out on both sides.

Step 3: Create the Eyes
Cut two oval shapes from white cardstock, then use a marker to add black dots in the center for the pupils. Glue these onto the reindeer head to bring your little reindeer to life.

Step 4: Add Rudolph’s Red Nose
Glue a red pom pom ball in the center of the reindeer’s face. This will be the bright red nose, just like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!

Step 5: Draw Details
Using a marker, shade the bottom of the reindeer’s fingers to look like hooves. You can also draw a slight smile on the face to make it extra adorable.

Step 6: Decorate the Antlers
With a marker or crayon, doodle Christmas lights along each antler.

Then, cut small, colorful circles from construction paper.

Glue them onto the light strands to make your reindeer bright and festive.

Reindeer Handprint Art
This adorable handprint reindeer craft is a fun and festive way for kids to get creative during the holidays. Using just a few simple materials, children can trace and cut out their handprints to form a cute reindeer decorated with colorful Christmas lights. It’s perfect for preschool and elementary-aged kids and makes a sweet keepsake or classroom decoration that captures the joy of the season.
Materials
- Construction paper (brown, light brown, white, and assorted colors)
- Black marker or pen
- Scissors
- Glue stick
- Small red pom-pom ball (for Rudolph’s nose)
Instructions
- Create the Reindeer Base:
Place your hand on a sheet of dark brown construction paper and trace around it. Carefully cut it out — this will form the reindeer’s head and antlers. - Add Layered Antlers:
On a sheet of lighter brown paper, trace two smaller handprints. Cut them out and glue one on each side of the large brown handprint. These represent the reindeer’s layered antlers and add extra dimension. - Make the Eyes:
Cut two small oval or oblong shapes from white construction paper to form the eyes. Use a black marker to draw a filled-in dot in the center of each oval, then glue them onto the reindeer’s face. - Add Rudolph’s Nose:
Glue a red pom-pom ball near the bottom center of the handprint to create the reindeer’s shiny red nose. - Add Facial Details:
With your marker, lightly shade the bottom part of the fingers to give the antlers more definition. You can also outline the reindeer’s face or draw a friendly smile if you’d like. - Decorate the Antlers:
Use your black marker to draw a string of Christmas lights that winds around the two smaller handprint antlers. - Attach Colorful Lights:
Cut out small circles from different colored construction paper (like red, green, blue, and yellow). Glue these tiny circles along the doodled string of lights to complete your cheerful reindeer design.
