How does Fluffy Slime work?

In actuality, fluffy slime is just like regular slime, with 2-3 cups of shaving cream added. The texture and consistency of the slime will vary depending on how much shaving cream you use. It will become “fluffier” as you add more.

This recipe will show you how much shaving cream to use if you only want a hint of fluff. Making slime is enjoyable because you can experiment with different amounts and see how the slime forms. Slime is a science experiment that should be made and played carefully.

This fun, stretchy slime is a delightful combination of four vibrant colors of slime. This method for making slime is incredibly simple and versatile, allowing you to create it in any color you desire! Feel free to get creative and customize this slime with your favorite unicorn colors.

After creating your colored glitter slime, you can easily combine them side by side to create a beautiful blend.

Have a blast playing with your slime alone, or make it even more exciting by including it as a party favor for a unicorn-themed celebration! After you finish making the slime, twist the colors together and watch it transform into something magical like unicorn poop! (It may seem silly, but the kids will find it amusing!)

Step 1: Get a bowl to mix your slime ingredients. Empty the glue into a large bowl. Whisk in the shaving cream.

Step 2: After you’ve mixed the white glue and water, add the baking soda and stir until combined.

Safety Tips: If contact lens solution is accidentally ingested, seek medical attention immediately.

(Note: regular glue will require less contact lens solution than glitter glue.)

Step 3: Combine the ingredients listed, then stir in the contact lens solution. (Note: Ordinary glue uses less contact lens solution than glitter glue.

Add the contact lens solution slowly, mixing between additions, and add only enough to bring the glue into a soft ball.) The slime will be sticky because the lens solution acts as a slime activator.

If you add coloring, stir these ingredients into the glue mixture and fold them into the shaving cream.

Step 4: Add 1-3 drops of food colouring, stir these ingredients into the glue mixture, and fold them into the gel shaving cream.

Safety Tips: All chemical handling and slime-making should be done by adults only. Follow the labels of products used. Kids shouldn’t be able to make their slime, and you shouldn’t play slime for an extended period.

Get your hands dirty with the slime and start working it together by kneading it like bread dough. Dump each bowl’s contents into a countertop and knead until it is no longer sticky and has a good slime consistency. The slime is ready when it is no longer sticky. When not in use, keep it in the fridge in an airtight or covered container.

Step 5: Repeat the process for each color needed. You should have six distinct colors of slime by now. Repeat with each color. What we love about this recipe is that it blends three pretty pastel colors (choice of food colouring) into a uniform slime rainbow!

Fluffy unicorn slime will be a hit with the bright, cheerful colors and this fluffy slime is fun to make.. You can shape the slime into a unicorn head as pictured or get creative with other unicorn shaped ideas. Make sure to use Elmer's glue as other brands don't hold up as well. It is also important to note that the contact lens solution needs to contain boric acid and sodium borate in the ingredient list. These ingredients will interact with the glue to form the slime. The brand that I used was Equate contact lens solution.

This slime is appropriate for ages 4 and up with adult supervision.

Materials

  • 1 cup clear Elmer's Glue
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Food coloring
  • 3 cups shaving cream (like Barbasol)
  • 11⁄2 tablespoon contact lens solution (containing boric acid)
  • Jumbo wiggly eyes

Tools

  • Bowls to mix slime with different colors

Instructions

Empty the glue into a large bowl. Whisk in the shaving cream. Add the baking soda to the glue mixture and stir to mix thoroughly. If you are adding coloring, stir these ingredients into the glue mixture and fold into the shaving cream. Add contact solution to mixture and stir well. Begin to play with the slime, kneading it as you would bread dough, to bring the slime together. The slime is ready when no longer sticky. Best if stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator when not in use.

Notes

Pro Tip: Wear gloves to prevent staining of skin and/or clothes.

Slime Safety for kids:

While making slime is great fun for kids, safety precautions and adult supervision should be in place.
